Tommy and his Birds.

Since I’ve been in Ukraine, I have transported over 25 owls, a Saker hawk, Perigen falcon, and a rare buzzard. All of these birds are taken from the front lines by soldiers.

Quite often what happens is the trees are destroyed in artillery and rocket fire, and the nest fall to the ground. Most of the birds are juvenile occasionally the adult survives. I’m astounded by the compassion of the Ukrainian soldiers regarding wildlife affected by the war.

There’s a person in Dnipro her name is Veronica Konkova. She is the person that Military brings or sends the birds too. Veronica treats these birds as needed before they are taken to the sanctuary up near Kyiv.

Regarding the juvenile owls, they have a very short window of being able to learn to become a proper Owl. They need to be released into the sanctuary where they learned to hunt and fend for themselves.

This was the first Owl I transported. Short eared owl that escaped from its box while I was away from the vehicle. This is how I found him.

Veronica Konkova, and a rescued owl.

Please help us save more animals from the war in Ukraine.
